Archimedes
Intro
Archimedes is Standard Physics’ (formerly Inviscid AI, YC W26) engineering design-search product: given a goal, swarms of agents write candidate designs as code, evaluate each in a real physics simulator via Reynolds/OpenFOAM, and keep improving the winners — calling out results that do not hold up.
Product: https://standardphysics.com/archimedes
Public demo narrative (site):
- Starts from diverse propeller seed designs; ~12 cloud machines / six agent teams explore 1,000+ designs in ~12 hours;
- Simulates in air and water and shares high-scoring ideas across teams;
- Example winner: a single rotor that both flies and swims (swept tip, pitch change, gearing).
Explain
Why it matters
Much “physics AI” stops at pretty renders or surrogates; Archimedes closes the loop with executable design code + rerunnable physics sims, closer to real engineering search.
Caveats
- Site demos are vendor-shown — independent reproduction and physical tests still required;
- Disambiguate from historical namesakes — use standardphysics.com/archimedes;
- Pairs with sibling product Reynolds (plain English → OpenFOAM).
Usage
- Read the product and cases at https://standardphysics.com/archimedes ;
- Pair with https://standardphysics.com/reynolds / OpenReynolds for the CFD backend;
- Request access via Talk to us on the site;
- Treat sim winners as candidates pending physical or higher-fidelity checks.
