Intro

Poki is the open-source project JosssphZhou/poki (site https://poki.bot , repo https://github.com/JosssphZhou/poki ): AI agents operate a real iPhone like a person—no jailbreak, no extra hardware. The controller runs on a Mac and connects to the phone (e.g. USB).

Repo created ~2026-11-05, ~195★ at radar capture; license AGPL-3.0-only; platforms macOS + iOS. Ships Poki MCP (for Claude Code / Codex and other MCP clients) and Poki Agent (standalone terminal agent, plus iMessage and other channels).

Highlights:

  • Native touch events against real apps and system UI (examples: Xiaohongshu saves, Maps directions, WeChat, Reminders, Alipay bills, Trip.com trains with stop-before-payment);
  • Entry points: iMessage, Terminal; Telegram / native iOS app marked coming soon;
  • Verified runs compile into routes so repeats get faster;
  • Needs macOS 15+, full Xcode, Rust, Node.js 24+, ffmpeg, etc. (prebuilt macOS arm64 package can skip Rust/./bin/setup);
  • Disclaimer: not affiliated with Apple/OpenAI; automating third-party apps may violate their ToS; you own outcomes on your device.

Explain

Problem

Most computer-use agents target desktop browsers/OS; phone automation often needs jailbreaks, cloud devices, or extra hardware. Poki exposes a local MCP + agent to a real iPhone so existing agent clients can tap, type, and run cross-app flows via tools.

Architecture

  • Controller / MCP server on Mac; paired iPhone receives native touch and related actions;
  • MCP mode: use your own model subscription—no extra model account;
  • Agent mode: after poki login, send tasks from terminal or messaging channels;
  • Physical-device notes (docs): verified mainly on Chinese-locale iPhones; portrait only; some features (app-container export, deep Settings links) unavailable.

Limits & risks

  • Screen contents go to your configured model service;
  • It can send messages and reach payment UIs—if you ask, it will; demos stop before payment, but humans must stay careful;
  • Automation may violate third-party ToS; AGPL reciprocity applies.

Usage

Who it's for

  • Developers and automation teams who need agents on real iOS apps;
  • Claude Code / Codex (MCP) users extending agents to iPhone;
  • Individuals OK with Mac+phone pairing and AGPL constraints.

Getting started

  1. Read https://poki.bot and https://github.com/JosssphZhou/poki ;
  2. git clone, ./bin/setup, npm start—or use the poki-v0.1.0-macos-arm64 prebuilt release;
  3. Register MCP (claude mcp add ... poki-mcp or codex mcp add poki-mcp ...) or install the Agent and poki login;
  4. USB-pair a physical iPhone (docs/physical-iphone.md), start with low-risk tasks, and read verification / Disclaimer.
