Intro

Reynolds is Standard Physics’ agentic CFD: describe a flow in plain words; it writes and meshes an OpenFOAM case, solves on a hosted workspace, and returns figures, numbers, and a rerunnable case. MIT open source; pip install openreynolds.

Product: https://standardphysics.com/reynolds

Highlights:

  • Flow: Describe → Build/mesh → Solve → Answer;
  • Output is an ordinary OpenFOAM case experts can edit locally;
  • Runs on vendor cloud, your infra, or a local CLI;
  • Free for individual engineers with a verified work email (per site).

Explain

Why it matters

Wraps the OpenFOAM toolchain as “plain English → rerunnable case,” lowering CFD onboarding and providing a non-surrogate physics backend for products like Archimedes.

Caveats

  • Complex industrial cases still need expert mesh/BC review;
  • Disambiguate from the fluid-dynamics Reynolds number — use standardphysics.com/reynolds / OpenReynolds.

Usage

  1. Try https://standardphysics.com/reynolds ;
  2. pip install openreynolds and follow OpenReynolds docs/GitHub;
  3. Describe a flow in plain English and inspect the returned case/figures;
  4. For design search, see Archimedes.
