Sentira Single Cell
Intro
Sentira Single Cell is a cloud-based agentic AI application for single-cell data analysis, commercially launched on November 2, 2026 by 10x Genomics (Nasdaq: TXG), the leader in single-cell and spatial omics. It is powered by Anthropic's Claude models and purpose-built for data from the Chromium single-cell platform.
Researchers ask scientific questions or state hypotheses in natural language (or let the agent propose a hypothesis from the data); the agent drafts an analysis plan for the researcher to review and refine, executes it, returns results, and captures everything in an editable, reproducible notebook. It extends the Sentira platform introduced at the end of September, whose Sentira Spatial Analysis is in Early Access.
Explain
How it works
- Ask — describe the research question in plain language, e.g. "compare differential expression of T-cell subsets between treated and control samples".
- Plan — the agent proposes an analysis plan (QC, clustering, annotation, differential analysis…) that the researcher can review and adjust.
- Execute — runs on 10x Cloud, with multiple analyses in parallel and no infrastructure to manage.
- Conclude & document — results, methods and code land in an editable notebook for transparency and reproducibility; researchers can keep asking follow-ups.

Why it matters
- Single-cell biology has a long-standing "last mile" problem: every experiment needs custom analysis code, and bioinformatics capacity is the bottleneck. Sentira lets wet-lab biologists analyze data directly.
- 10x does not train its own LLM; it relies on Claude, says the platform is not locked to one model, and states that customer data does not flow back into model training.
- The concept grew out of work with Stanford's James Zou on the "Virtual Lab" of AI agents.
Usage
Getting started
- Go to 10xgenomics.com/software/sentira and sign in with a 10x Cloud account.
- Upload a Chromium single-cell dataset (the first one earns 100 promotional credits).
- Type a research question in the chat, or ask the agent to propose hypotheses from the data.
- Review the agent's analysis plan, approve it, and inspect the code and intermediate results in the notebook.
- Keep iterating until you reach conclusions suitable for a paper or the next experiment; buy credit packs as needed.
Best for: labs on the 10x Chromium platform without dedicated bioinformatics support; bioinformaticians can also use it to draft reproducible analyses quickly.
