Aether
Intro
Aether is a cloud Devbox platform for coding agents built by Pranav Sharan (ex-Apple / Skyflow / HeyGen); docs at docs.runaether.dev. Public traction in 2026 (Product Hunt, Show HN, industry notes) centers on one idea: cloud agents shouldn't be black boxes — each task gets an observable isolated VM you can watch, edit and take over.
It doesn't resell models: bring Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode on your own plan; Aether bills VM compute. A writer agent and a reviewer agent can iterate on a PR until approval, with screenshots/video proof for visual changes.
Explain
What problem it solves
Local multi-agent coding burns RAM and needs constant approval of risky commands; many cloud agents hide their work. Aether's Firecracker microVMs aim for isolation, visibility and parallelism together.
Capability sketch
- Natural-language tasks → agent codes, runs commands and tests in a real browser inside a cloud workspace.
- GitHub, Sentry, Linear, Slack integrations; agents can start from alerts/issues.
- Scheduled jobs and multi-agent splits for large work.
Limits
- Quality still depends on your external model subscription.
- Early product — verify compliance/SSO needs yourself.
- The name “Aether” is overloaded; don't confuse with unrelated projects.
Usage
Who it's for
- Heavy Claude Code / Codex users who want agents to keep working after they close the laptop;
- Small teams that want auditable, previewable agent PR workflows.
Getting started
- Read the Introduction and sign up.
- Connect Claude Code / Codex / OpenCode under Settings → Connections.
- Link a GitHub repo, start a task from web/CLI, and watch the Devbox terminal and previews.
- Enable the PR review agent and optional scheduled automations.
