Intro

Bygga is a free, open-source app launched on 2026-10-27 by Hassan El Mghari (@nutlope), Head of Developer Experience at Together AI. It walks you through assembling IKEA furniture step by step with interactive 3D and voice instructions.

Type the product name from the box (e.g. KALLAX) and Bygga shows every assembly step in 3D, with the parts, screws and tools for each one, and reads it out loud. Site: usebygga.com. Hassan says it includes every buildable IKEA product. It was teased with a demo on Oct 23 and is now publicly live.

Explain

Product points

  1. Simple input: type the IKEA product name printed on the box.
  2. 3D steps: each step animates the parts, screws and tools, with written instructions and tips.
  3. Voice mode: steps are read aloud; say "next", "back" or "again" to navigate.
  4. Non-IKEA items: scan a paper manual to generate steps.
  5. Workshop: saves what you've built.
  6. Open source & free: 100% free and open source (GitHub: Nutlope/bygga), powered by Together AI; not affiliated with IKEA.

Why this radar term

A distinctive, newly launched consumer AI tool in this window; the launch post drew hundreds of likes within hours, and the author's previous open-source apps (e.g. hallmark) have hit GitHub Trending.

Usage

How to use it

  1. Go to usebygga.com
  2. Enter the IKEA product name from the box (e.g. KALLAX, BILLY)
  3. Follow the 3D steps and check each step's parts/tools list
  4. Turn on voice mode for hands-free building — say "next", "back" or "again"
  5. For non-IKEA furniture, scan the paper manual
  6. Developers can read or self-host the code at Nutlope/bygga on GitHub

Good fit

  • Anyone who finds flat-pack diagrams confusing
  • Developers studying AI + 3D + voice app patterns

Caveats

  • Not an official IKEA product; double-check generated steps against the parts and original manual
